I was born in Fort Payne, Alabama and raised in the Blake community attending Sylvania High School for (12) years until joining the Army, where I was stationed in Alaska until honorably discharged in 1979. Upon returning home I became a Rainsville Police Officer until 1980, then moved to Scottsboro and was employed as a Police Officer. In 1985 I became an Alabama State Trooper and was stationed in the Huntsville Post which included Jackson County.
I am married to Cheryl Thomas and together we have five children, and seven grandchildren. We are both retired and enjoy gardening and spending time with our grandchildren.
Raising my children in Scottsboro, I volunteered with the Scottsboro City Schools working with teachers and students from kindergarten through 12th grade, with Scottsboro Parks and Recreation as a soccer and baseball coach, and a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 444.
In 2006 I campaigned for and was successfully elected to the Scottsboro City Council. While serving in that position I assisted in passing balanced budgets, the creation of a City Engineer, a five (5) member board for the Scottsboro Electric Power Board, worked with the Industrial Development Board to bring much needed jobs, and the creation of the Scottsboro Commercial Development Board to bring retail businesses and assist established businesses in Scottsboro.
I will make myself available to everyone and promise to be good stewards of their tax dollars and will continue to work for the betterment of Scottsboro by working for continued recruitment of much needed jobs, affordable housing, improvement of our city streets, and areas of this city that begs attention which will make Scottsboro a GREATER place to live, work, and play.
I humbly ask for your vote.
